A little switch up this time-

Models choose your designers-
This was wrong. 2 models eliminated by drawing names. They never would have done this to a designer, so they shouldnt do it to a model.

Then the models choose a icon for the Designers to update their look-

So on to designer - Icon -design

Angela-Audry Hepburn- man this could have been dangerious.
Audry was perfection. And angela coose wisely in keeping with the straight lines and playing istead w/ the texture. She took a basic black dress, added chiffon(?), and reigned in her addition to rosettes (she should have eliminated the one on the side). Updated by having lower neck line to accentuatte the cleavage....Very nice. This girl has possibilitys...who have thunk it.

Uli- Diana Ross- Long tight flowwing at the bottom, purple. I didnt like it, thought itr was too busy, but will admit i could see Miss Ross wearing it

Laura- Katherine Hepburn- Grat choice for Laura. it keep the style of Kate (high waist slacks, and monochrome Blouse). Updated it with an extra large collar. Subtle and definately you could see which Icon she had. She nailed it.

Vincent- Twiggy- the judges reamed him for this, but i could see who his icon was. He updated the swinging british 60's. That being said, not a fan of it. Its biggest mistake (as pointed out) was the sleaves. They should have stopped right at the shouders

Jeffery- Madonna- The most santino like dress yet. But it again stated the icon by style. Dress was uneven especxially in the back. Top was overly large and didnt moved when the model did. Adequete.

Robert-Jacki O- boring,boring,boring- wrong material, boring, only here because 1 was worse.

Alison- Farrah- Dress and hair harkened Farrah and the 70's with out feeling old, Great colour, chiffon (again), and deep cleavage.Nice, always good work from alison

Bradly- Cher- realy hideous silver alme top (almost cropped) and yha wasnt the worse. The model came out and so did the crotch of the pants (not ripped, protruding) poorly made, this man was in over his head. Michael & Niana said with cher he could have made anything (the exception was this mostrosity).Almost lost to robert but , Is OUT

Kayne- Marilyn Monroe -Bondage/goth Marilyn updated -with out being tacky. The streach material on the rear is what i think cost him this comp.Showed too much definition in the buttocks. His idea of the ruffle took this dress from good to stellar.

Michael- Pam Greer-FOXY Brown- Finaly My fave gets a win, and it wasnt my favorite outfit this week. Magenta adds to the update, as did the hot pants. Right outfit, right Icon, right model, Right On!
only compalint I din't like this outfits Chanel inspired(or really Chanel belt).

These are my truths tell me yours

Surprisingly I liked Angela again this week. I thought if Michael didnt win she probably would have. She really kept to the Audrey Hepburn look, I just wish she'd stop with the signature rosettes.

Uli- Diana Ross- Long tight flowwing at the bottom, purple. I didnt like it, thought itr was too busy, but will admit i could see Miss Ross wearing it
I liked Uli's dress, it was very Diana Ross. I like that she chooses prints, its different. She's a contender IMO

Laura- Katherine Hepburn- Grat choice for Laura. it keep the style of Kate (high waist slacks, and monochrome Blouse). Updated it with an extra large collar. Subtle and definately you could see which Icon she had. She nailed it.
Not a big fan of the highwaist pants but she kept to her style and did a really nice job on both pieces.

Vincent- Twiggy- the judges reamed him for this, but i could see who his icon was. He updated the swinging british 60's. That being said, not a fan of it. Its biggest mistake (as pointed out) was the sleaves. They should have stopped right at the shouders
Didnt like it. I thought it looked slapped together with the solid black corner and geometric print, hated the pockets. I thought the sleeves were too big too. I think he should go soon. I also hated the makeup, those exagerated lines around the eyes were distracting to me, not to mention freakishly ugly.

Jeffery- Madonna- The most santino like dress yet. But it again stated the icon by style. Dress was uneven especxially in the back. Top was overly large and didnt moved when the model did. Adequete.
Hated it, reminded me too much of Santino whose stuff I hated 99% of too. Not a big Jeffery fan anyway, his neck bothers me.

Robert-Jacki O- boring,boring,boring- wrong material, boring, only here because 1 was worse.
Ill admit it was a little plain and the fabric was apparently wrong (I know nothing about what fabrics are right for what garment), but I didnt think it was that bad. The top underneath added a little pop, albeit very little but you did notice it. Maybe a different color...he should have stuck with his blue that he started with. As far as I can recall, Jacki O always wore those classic, kinda plain suits anyway. He updated it with the little flip on the back of the skirt and the untailored jacket. In a different color I might have liked it.

Alison- Farrah- Dress and hair harkened Farrah and the 70's with out feeling old, Great colour, chiffon (again), and deep cleavage.Nice, always good work from alison
I like Alison she has been consistently good. But I cant recall her dress right now.

Bradly- Cher- realy hideous silver alme top (almost cropped) and yha wasnt the worse. The model came out and so did the crotch of the pants (not ripped, protruding) poorly made, this man was in over his head. Michael & Niana said with cher he could have made anything (the exception was this mostrosity).Almost lost to robert but , Is OUT
Ewwww, cher is all about sexy and tight, what was he thinking with that loose fitting silver lame top? Those pants looked horrible on the model too. He deserved to go this week.

Kayne- Marilyn Monroe -Bondage/goth Marilyn updated -with out being tacky. The streach material on the rear is what i think cost him this comp.Showed too much definition in the buttocks. His idea of the ruffle took this dress from good to stellar.
I liked Kaynes dress, but I thought it was a little too clingy on the models butt. Im not a big fan of a sheer color over the flesh colored fabric. Ive seen some nice dresses done with colored lace over fleshtone fabric, but Im not real fond of just plain sheer over fleshtone.

Micheals outfit was great, I loved it. If I had the body for it, Id wear actually wear it. I cant say that about very many outfits Ive seen on all 3 PRs. I loved the color and the shorts werent too short and not skintight, the top was beautiful. He really hit the mark by keeping the Foxy Brown style too.

Although it was great for Michael to finally get some recognition I wasn't crazy about his outift. I actually liked Angelas black dress the best. What a surprise after the cheesy looking outfits she did from the first couple shows.

I'm so glad Michael won, and finally got some damned camera time. I think his designs have all been among the best. It was cool to see him stick up for Angela too. Speaking of Angela, I thought he dress was gorgeous.

Uli is my favorite of the designers, I really think she will make it to the finale.

Michael's was great and once I saw it, I knew he won!

Im getting sick of Rocker Boy's whining/bitching.

Pepette - I hate Jeffrey's neck tattoo too. I can't stand looking at him.

I thought that Allison's was one of the worst. When the model came out wearing it, I thought, "Ugh!" It made a skinny model look fat. And I didn't know, other than the hair, what about it had anything at all to do with Farrah Fawcett? On the other hand, Farrah was never any kind of a fashion icon anyway. It was all about the hair and the mouth full of big teeth.

Eeew. Just eeew.
Image
I can't imagine Farrah wearing that at any time in her life.

Laura does beautiful work. And I love those colors. And that is something I could definitely see Hepburn in. Just an aside. When I die and come back, I want to have long legs. Thank you.

When they focused so much on Michael, I was really scared. It either meant that he was going to win or he was going to be eliminated. I was so happy it was the former! His outfit was pretty, well constructed, and he obviously put a lot of thought into it. It fit Pam Grear's screen persona to a "T."
Image

Wow, looking at the picture, I realize how really, really skinny the model is. Pam was not a stick. Just an aside.

I was also surprised to like Angela's design. I still don't think she'll make it to the end, but she's doing better than one would expect after the first couple of weeks.

Uli- Diana Ross- Long tight flowwing at the bottom, purple. I didnt like it, thought itr was too busy, but will admit i could see Miss Ross wearing it
It was okay. I thought Uli would do better.

Laura- Katherine Hepburn- Grat choice for Laura. it keep the style of Kate (high waist slacks, and monochrome Blouse). Updated it with an extra large collar. Subtle and definately you could see which Icon she had. She nailed it.
Yep, this style icon really fit Laura. I wouldn't have used her color choices but the look was good. I always liked 1930s Kate.

Vincent- Twiggy- the judges reamed him for this, but i could see who his icon was. He updated the swinging british 60's. That being said, not a fan of it. Its biggest mistake (as pointed out) was the sleaves. They should have stopped right at the shouders
I didn't like it at all. I hated the patterns and the colors and it just was ugly overall. Then, again, many of the 1960s fashions were hideous, IMO. I also really don't like watching Psycho Vincent.

Jeffery- Madonna- The most santino like dress yet. But it again stated the icon by style. Dress was uneven especxially in the back. Top was overly large and didnt moved when the model did. Adequete.
For me, Jeffrey's nasty personality overshadows everything he does, although I do want to fully see that neck tattoo of his. He's got nearly as big an ego as Keith. I would really rather see some of the worst designers stay longer if we could just get rid of Mr. Obnoxious.

Robert-Jacki O- boring,boring,boring- wrong material, boring, only here because 1 was worse.
He's squeaked by two weeks in a row now. He's got to be getting worried. He needs to take chances and yet remember the assignment. His creation this week was definitely not a Jackie-type outfit.

Alison- Farrah- Dress and hair harkened Farrah and the 70's with out feeling old, Great colour, chiffon (again), and deep cleavage.Nice, always good work from alison
I like Alison but I really didn't care for this design. I didn't like the colors and thought the cleavage was kind of funky (in a bad way) with the ruffles.

Bradly- Cher- realy hideous silver alme top (almost cropped) and yha wasnt the worse. The model came out and so did the crotch of the pants (not ripped, protruding) poorly made, this man was in over his head. Michael & Niana said with cher he could have made anything (the exception was this mostrosity).Almost lost to robert but , Is OUT
He was absolutely right when he says he needs to pay more attentioin to celebrities. Where has he been that he doesn't know who Cher is?? The woman is so known for wearing outrageous clothing to awards shows and on stage that I can't imagine that a designer wouldn't know who she is! 8O He definitely deserved to go. His creation was horrible!

Kayne- Marilyn Monroe -Bondage/goth Marilyn updated -with out being tacky. The streach material on the rear is what i think cost him this comp.Showed too much definition in the buttocks. His idea of the ruffle took this dress from good to stellar.
Yes, the dress clung too tightly to the butt but I liked the overall look of this dress and the way it flowed. It was also very Marilyn

I'm so glad Michael won. He deserved this one. I was watching in my hotel room. Maybe the color on the tv was off. It certainly didn't look "magenta" to me.

I think this assignment was harder than it appeared. In addition to constructing a well-made garment, it required the designers to do three things - distill the essential qualities from a fashion icon, update those qualities, and bring together a total fashion look for the model. Some people got part of it right, but only a few did everything they were supposed to. In order, from best to worst, IMO:

Kayne- Marilyn Monroe For me, the top position was a toss-up between Kayne and Michael. It was a tough call, but I am leaning slightly more toward Kayne. I think he captured Marilyn's style and made it contemporary. For those of you who think the derriere was too defined are forgetting the famous gold lame dress - it clung with each movement. This was an outstanding effort from Kayne.

Michael- Pam Greer-FOXY Brown When I saw the completed outfit, my first thought was "Pam Grier would wear this NOW" so it was tough to choose my op two. I was glad Michael won. But I wouldn't have been disappointed if Kayne had.

Uli- Diana Ross Again, the completed outfit is something I could see Miss Poss choosing. The fabric was fantastic, but I thought Uli didn't quite modernize the look as much as Kayne or Michael did.

Laura- Katherine Hepburn Similar reaction to Laura's design as to Uli's. Excellent work, though, and unlike the other selections, this could look could actually filter down to the mass market, which is something that a style icon does - inspire popular fashion.

Angela-Audry Hepburn Like others, I thought the rosette at the waist could go. Other than that, I thought Angela had a pretty good overall look. If you look at the current fall fashions, the looks of Audrey and Jackie O are being reimagined, so I thought that Angela and Robert might have more of a challenge creating a look that isn't currently being seen on the runway. Angela definitely rose to the challenge.

Jeffery- Madonna I have mixed feelings on Jeffery's interpretation. On the one hand, the whole "Boy Toy" look was Madonna's breakthrough look, and her impact on popular fashion has never had quite the same impact. However, Madonna is also known for reinventing herself, and this ensemble is more a revisitation. So while he captured a look and modrnized it, which was a part of the challenge, he kind of dismissed the "reinvention" part of Madonna's personality. So to me, he didn't score as high as other designers.

Alison- Farrah I have to say, the hair was good, but the dress didn't capture the "Farrah" vibe, which was all about being the quintessential "California girl" (even though she was from Texas). The dress was pretty but unlike other designers, didn't automatically call to mind Farrah Fawcett. If I hadn't known who the icons were beforehand, I wouldn't have said Farrah. I agree with other people (and not just in this forum) who questioned Farrah as a fashion icon. I think Alison may have had a slight disadvantage is this challenge.

I am completely baffled by my bottom three. I don't know what any of them were thinking.

Robert-Jacki O Yeah, boring, but it would sell. There was nothing wrong with the outfit itself, except that it didn't meet any of the requirements of the challenge. Jackie O was always tailored, crisp, and careful, and this outfit was none of those things. I have no idea why Robert abandoned his first fabric choice - it was a beautiful color, and would have lent itself well to a tailored but casual design. Ack!

Vincent- Twiggy The man has a tendency to overdo something that puts his designs over the edge from awesome to aweful. While I think I know what he was going for, his finished ensemble had too many unnecessary extras. It wound up looking thrown together. I think it's important to remember that Twiggy's 60's look had a minimalist silhouette - and Vincent's dress did not. Bad call.

Bradley- Cher I think Bradley has been living under a rock. How could be not know Cher's style? True, she hasn't been in the spotlight much lately, but that video of her on the aircraft carrier in the butt-baring leather get-up, or the clip of her at the Oscars in Bob Mackie's outrageous black gown and headdress, have been in the public conscious for - well, forever. I think Cher would be easier to do than Farrah. And his outfit wasn't all that well-made. He definitely deserved to go.
