I've just ordered it. Pika, the book is "The Bookkeeper" by Richard Ulrich. Thanks for the info, Realityfan!

It's mystery/horror and it's about 8 murders.

It has some historical content (it goes back to several different time periods, it has local and current information because it takes place in modern times, it has a gorgeous lead character along with two handsome cops (one of Greek origin and one Navajo). It is spooky, graphic and a bit scary too.

It is an original concept and worth reading.

I wish you could get to the link that I posted since it allows you to read the Prologue and there is also a short break-down of the contents.

For Pika:

Description

Her name is Kalli and she has recently arrived in the heat-baked desert of Phoenix, Arizona. Her arrival is eerily punctuated by the fierce high-powered winds of the infamous Monsoon season. Kalli has a duty to perform and she takes her work seriously. Unknown to most of us we walk among evil beings who have lived before and through some strange quirk of the God’s have been reborn without paying for their former sins. It is Kalli’s job to even the score and balance the books. It is not for her to question the brutality of her methods; for she is THE BOOKKEEPER and her preternaturally chosen victims are neither her doing nor her choice. It is hard to envision a woman as beautiful as Kalli; a blonde goddess in her own right, wreaking murderous havoc on those she has been sent to destroy. But destroy she does and in ways that most of us mere mortals couldn’t conceive of in our wildest nightmares. As the winds blow and the heat stakes it’s claim on all those who reside unknowingly in the Phoenix metropolis a phenomenon is taking place that was preordained long before most of us were born. As Kalli imposes her will on those unsuspecting victims of past evil deeds she calmly makes an entry in a ledger like book that resembles what bookkeepers have used for years to record business records and household expenses. Only this book is special and sacred. It holds the key to those who are due for retribution. Of course no one, not even Kalli can simply kill and maim without the notice of the local gendarmes. That brings us to two of the main characters of my story. Men sworn to uphold the law are not prepared to uphold the laws of the supernatural. They have a killer on their hands and they are determined to catch him/her using the usual methods. That is not to be.

Thanks, RF! The link works now so either it was too busy earlier or there's something on my computer at work blocking it.

I know where you live. I might just pay you a visit. If I like the book, it might be an enjoyable visit. If not, I might TP your house. I can get Grimme and Pikachu to help.

JK. I just took an unplanned road trip across 1400 miles. I need to figure out how much we have left. If not this month, then next month. Can't wait.

Bumped, because I just got Realityfan's husband Richard's book, "The Bookkeeper", two days ago and am already up to page 120, highly unusual for me.

I'm hoping that since I have never been in one that we can have a book club discussion about it. I posted more about this in the thread in the "General Forum".

Anyone else have the book yet? It's a real page-turner.

This book grips you. I got to within the last 40 pages late last night(Saturday-Sunday AM) and struggled mightily to finish it but kept dozing off (due to extreme sleepiness, not due to the very exciting, scary text).

So I reluctantly stopped reading it on page 291 (there are 321 pages) because I wanted to fully alert when reading it.

I can't wait to discuss this book and hate not being able to openly mention details. Let me just say I HATE VICKI !!!!
